- Abstract:
- Fixed biofilm-activated sludge (IFAS) process was applied to strengthen nitrogen removal of the original AAO process in a wastewater treatment plant. The effluent quality reached the criteria specified in the Discharge Standard of Main Water Pollutants for Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant & Key Industries of Taihu Area (DB 32/1072-2018). The operation effect after the upgrading and reconstruction was analyzed, and the nitrification and denitrification efficiencies of activated sludge and biofilm were measured respectively. It was found that the nitrification rate of biofilm on the surface of the filler in the aerobic tank was 1.71 times of activated sludge, indicating that the nitrification capacity was significantly improved after the addition of fixed filler. The microbial community of the system was analyzed by Illumina MiSeq high-throughput sequencing technology. Proteobacteria, Bacteroidota, Actinobacteria and Chloroflexi were mainly enriched at the phylum level, and Thauera, Ferruginibacter, Thermomonas, Rhodobacter, norank_f__Caldilineaceae and norank_f__Saprospiraceae were mainly enriched at the genus level. The microbial community of sludge was analyzed by LEfSe linear discriminant analysis. It was found that a large number of nitrogen removal functional bacteria were enriched in the biofilm on the surface of the filler, and the fixed filler enhanced nitrification and denitrification.
