- Abstract:
- In recent years, the pipe jacking method has been increasingly applied in rock formations. During rock pipe jacking, the accumulation of rock debris in the over-excavation gap inevitably affects the pipe-rock contact condition, thereby influencing the jacking force in hard rock strata. To address the lack of standardized guidelines for calculating jacking forces in long-distance steel pipe jacking through hard rock, this study proposes a jacking force calculation model that accounts for the effects of rock debris accumulation. The model integrates face resistance based on the disc cutter rock-breaking mechanism with frictional resistance under multistate pipe-slurry-debris contact conditions, and is validated through domestic bidirectional hard rock pipe jacking project. The results indicate that when debris accumulation is minimal, pipe-rock top-point contact occurs, resulting in a slight decrease in jacking force compared to debris-free conditions. When the sedimentation zone ratio reaches 60%-100%, pipe-debris contact dominates, leading to a approximately 20% increase in frictional resistance. The theoretical curves are in good agreement with field-measured jacking forces in hard rock pipe jacking, providing a critical design reference for similar projects.
