- Abstract:
- This study took the water body in the lower reaches of the Dongjiang River as the research object. Parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC) and three-dimensional excitation-emission matrix (3D-EEM) fluorescence spectroscopy parameter analysis were employed to determine the components and characteristics of dissolved organic matter (DOM). By comparing the effluent indices (UV254, fluorescent substances, CODMn, COD, and disinfection by-products formation potential) at each treatment unit between the powdered activated carbon (PAC) pretreatment-ozone-biological activated carbon (BAC) process and a conventional treatment process, the advantages of the PAC pretreatment-ozone-BAC process were investigated. The results showed that DOM in the lower reaches of the Dongjiang River mainly consisted of humic-like substances and tyrosine-like substances, exhibiting characteristics of both terrestrial and autochthonous sources. Compared with the conventional treatment process, the PAC pretreatment-ozone-BAC process achieved increases in removal rates for UV254, fluorescent substances, CODMn, COD, and disinfection by-products formation potential by 27.1-29.7 percentage points, 68.9-81.1 percentage points, 25.0-25.1 percentage points, 25.4-37.2 percentage points, and 28.3-29.8 percentage points, respectively.
