- Abstract:
- In view of the limited removal efficiency of dissolved organic matter and inorganic salts in conventional processes when treating river source water,an ultrafiltration-nanofiltration(UF-NF) dual-membrane pilot system was constructed to investigate the impact of pretreatment processes on its advanced treatment performance. The effluent from three processes of sedimentation, sand filtration and ozone-biological activated carbon(O3/BAC) was used as the feed water of the UF-NF dual-membrane system. The removal effects on turbidity, permanganate index, total hardness and various ions were compared, and the variation laws of transmembrane pressure (TMP) and membrane flux were analyzed. The results showed that UF could stably control the effluent turbidity below 0.4 NTU. The average removal rate of permanganate index by NF exceeded 60%, the retention rate of SO42- was higher than 80%, the retention rate of Ca2+ and Mg2+ was 35%, but the retention rate of monovalent ions (such as Na+ and Cl-) was generally below 30%. Membrane fouling analysis showed that when O3/BAC was used as the pretreatment, both the TMP growth and the membrane fouling rate of UF and NF were the slowest, and the system operation was the most stable. Therefore, using O3/BAC as a pretreatment process for the dual- membrane system can effectively optimize the influent water quality, enhance the overall treatment efficiency and operational economy of the system.
