- Xiamen Daitouxi is a coastal and seasonal stormwater-source urban tidal river, which has many water environment problems, such as direct discharge of sewage in dry days, overflow of sewage in rainy days, lack of ecological base flow, sediment deposition and so on, resulting in serious deterioration of its water quality, damage to the water ecosystem, and insufficient water environment capacity. In order to thoroughly solve the water environment problems in the Daitouxi watershed, based on the quantitative analysis of the pollutant source, from the two aspects of reducing the influent pollution and improving the self-purification capacity, the treatment schemes of source control and interception, endogenous treatment, living water quality improvement, ecological restoration and bypass purification are put forward, and a comprehensive treatment system of water environment from the source to the end is constructed. This paper explores the ideas of comprehensive management, planning and design of river water environment in coastal and seasonal stormwater-source cities. The total investment of the project is 3 445.56 million yuan. A number of projects including sewage plant expansion, sewage pipelines, sediment treatment, water replenishment pipelines and ecological restoration have been completed, and remarkable results have been achieved in water environment treatment.
